Agency Description: It is Fresh Start's mission to assist domestic violence survivors and their children as they break free in their quest towards a non-violent, productive and self-sufficient life.
Founded in 1997 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Fresh Start of Indiana, Inc. offers innovative, non-residential transitional support services to domestic violence survivors who have made the brave decision to leave their abusive relationships.
The organization's founder, Judith M. House, is a survivor of domestic violence who left her abusive relationship in 1991 to successfully rebuild her life with her three children. Today, she uses the same guiding principles in helping others escape the horror of abuse.
Fresh Start of Indiana is one of the only programs in the state of Indiana offering unique services of ongoing transitional support to domestic violence survivors. The program serves victims before they leave their abusers, while they are in the shelters (or if they choose not to go to the shelter), and after they move into their own homes. The program advocates community involvement and a caring, personalized "step" approach that is proving to be valuable in helping the survivors to accomplish their goals.
By being a "friend in need", Fresh Start of Indiana strives to assist the domestic violence survivor with the difficult transition from dependent to independent living.
Fresh Start is an equal opportunity provider and offers services without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin, or handicap.
Fresh Start of Indiana, Inc. is a member of the Greater Indianapolis Advocates Against Domestic Violence.
